Manchester United XI: Romero, Dalot, Jones, Tuanzebe, Rojo, Fred, Matic Gomes, Rashford, Greenwood, Chong
Astana XI: Eric, Rukavina, Evgeni Postnikov, Tomasevic, Shomko Tomasov, Maewski, Simunovic, Sigurjonsson, Rotariu, Murtazaev
Mason Greenwood opens the scoring with fine solo effort
79: Fresh from his stunning Rabona, Marcos Rojo goes for the spectacular from distance. It looked to be going close until Eric gets the faintest of touches to tip it past the post.
76: The hosts are looking more confident and threatening now with that goal knocking the stuffing out of Astana.
73: GOAL! Goodness me – something has actually happened at Old Trafford!
Mason Greenwood scores his first competitive senior goal for the Red Devils in style. The striker twists & turns his marker before firing past Eric.
70: Final 20 minutes. Fasten your seatbelt – this will be a grandstand finish. Gosh even I didn’t believe that.

68: Astana growing in confidence here and that’s got the Manchester United supporters upset. Moans, groans and boos can be heard.
Tahith Chong off, Jesse Lingard on. Angel Gomes off, Juan Mata on.
65: See… the thing is… Manchester United will probably go on to win this match by a goal or two. And everyone will forget about it and it’ll be brushed under the carpet. But it shouldn’t be. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been abysmal tonight and a point is pretty-much all they deserve.
63: Close! It’s a great chance… for Astana! Tomasov cross from the right and it bounces perfectly for Rotariu at the back post, who nudges it harmlessly wide.
60: I don’t think those inside the designated singing area at Old Trafford are being paid – but they should be! Still chanting away no matter the terrible quality of football. Fred lines up a free-kick from distance… save! Good curling effort and Eric parries it behind for a corner.

57: Oh yes, Rojo! What a man! Sensing the unrelenting boredom inside the stadium – Marcos Rojo attempts a Rabona from outside the penalty area. Obviously it didn’t pay off but I appreciate the effort.
54: Marcos Rojo, and that very fiery temper of his, is lucky not to make contact with the Astana winger. The Argentine slides in full-blooded and just misses his victim. Could have been red.
51: Beautiful turn from Gomes creates a good opening for the hosts. He takes three players out the game with a nifty Cruyff Turn before laying it over to Marcos Rojo. His drilled cross/shot is narrowly ahead of the sliding Chong and Greenwood.
48: Marcus Rashford is playing like a guy who’s had an earful. He immediately wins the corner for his side that, within 12 seconds, is at the feet of Sergio Romero. Yes, really.

45: Manchester United have scored two goals in the last 225 minutes of football at Old Trafford. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be hoping that record changes over the next 45 minutes.

HT: This is so bad I can’t even begin to describe it. NOTHING is happening. Absolutely nothing with the Kazakhstan side holding Manchester United off far too easily.
Mercifully there’s zero minutes stoppage time.
43: “Red Army” has been chanted constantly for about 10 minutes now. Sorry to keep banging on about it but I’m in complete amazement.
40: Corner to Astana! Fred manages to clear the initial delivery at the near post and Gomes dispossesses Simunovic over on the right. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still sat on the bench looking less than impressed.
38: Manchester United fans in the stands at Old Trafford are currently singing “Borat, Borat, give us a song.” They are also signing: “You’ve only got one song” to nine blokes from Kazakhstan.
35: Nice stuff from Diogo Dalot, who twists and turns his marker out of the ground before floating lovely cross into the middle. Several yellow Astana shirts combine to hack it clear.
32: Seeing as this is an incredibly boring match – I’ve posted Loris Karius’ latest blunder in the video above. It’s noting short of hilarious.
29: So… anyone seen any good shows lately? I only ask because nothing has happened here in about seven minutes. Nothing.

26: Just the 71 percent possession for Manchester United after 25 minutes. Eight shots off target and two on target…
23: Deja vu here at Old Trafford. Marcos Rojo’s hut and hope actually finds Marcus Rashford between two Astana defenders. He pokes it straight at the wonderfully names Eric between the sticks and the goalkeeper saves. Not offside this time – just a weak finish.
20: Marcos Rojo, who I forgot played for Manchester United, crosses for Marcus Rashford and the striker volleys over. The linesman’s flag was raised anyway.

17: Fair play to these Manchester United fans. There’s a section that haven’t stopped singing since kick off. Not the usual for a Europa League night at Old Trafford.
Phil Jones dives in on the halfway line and completely loses track of Murtazaev. The Astana star advances but Jones makes a good recovery run to block the shot.
14: Mason Greenwood with his first effort at goal. He cuts inside before leaning back and blazing a 25-yarder high and wide of the target.
11: Well I’m ASTAN-ISHED (gentle word play) how Manchester United haven’t taken the lead. A corner fortuitously drops to an unmarked Marcus Rashford, who strikes straight at Astana goalkeeper Eric from point-blank range.

8: Can’t profess to know much about tonight’s Kazakhstan visitors – but judging by the opening eight minutes – they won’t be leaving with anything tonight. Everyone’s behind the ball and hoofing clear their lines is frequent.
5: It’s all Manchester United. Marcus Rashford takes a signature dipping free-kick that deflects off the wall over the crossbar. The resulting corner comes to nothing as the yellow shirts of Astana look to break forward.
3: Fred, whose only goal for Manchester United came against Wolves, has a crack from distance which troubles the pigeons high in the roof of the stands.
1: And we’re underway at a splendid looking Old Trafford. Pink skies over the stadium an hour before kick off. Sorry I’m late – I was covering Arsenal’s 3-0 win and needed another two minutes to microwave my lasagne.
Ahh, Robbie Savage is co-commentator this evening. Good start…
